  My wife and I recently moved to Schaumburg from Philly. Our home we purchased had an older model Generac generator which was no longer operational. Having heard about the intense summer storms and winters here we thought it would make sense to replace. Knowing absolutely nothing about generators we did our research on home advisor before we called around for quotes. It was shocking to see such a disparity between pricing on generators and installation costs between companies, even on home advisor when comparing against the average costs for a generator and installation. I believe Tony with North Shore Power Electric was my 4th or 5th call. He happened to be in the neighborhood when I called and he told us before providing a rough estimate he’d just stop by and take a look at the electrical setup to see if it was still viable – something we never considered and apparently is a pretty important factor on overall pricing for a replacement. Tony was thorough with his inspection and on point with his quote. He came in at a price that was comfortable for us which was around the average cost in Illinois. We appreciated that. A lot. My wife and I chose a new 16kW Generac, the same system power as the older non-working model. We’re happy with the purchase and the work provided by Tony’s team. Ironically though, it’s the only item I’ve purchased at this cost I hope to never have to use, although relieved we have it. My wife and I are both commercial architects and depend heavily on our design systems. Thanks again Tony! GO EAGLES!!!

  We had North Shore install a whole home Kohler 20kw backup generator in the fall of 2015. The team was very nice, prompt, and very clean. The install was done so well it looks like it's always been there.
  
  The true test was Friday 2/19 when we had 60 mph winds. Several trees in the neighborhood took out power lines. The neighborhood was down for 6+ hours, but not us. I almost felt a little bad leaving the front lights on, but we did let several neighbors come over to charge their phones or get a little video game time in!
